Established by Genghis Khan in the 13th century, the Mongol Empire was a nomadic empire that stretched across vast territories of Asia and eastern Europe. At its height, it covered an estimated 24 million square kilometers, making it the largest contiguous land empire before the Russian Empire.

From the 16th to the 19th centuries, the Spanish Empire was one of the most powerful global empires, controlling territories in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Its vast empire reached an estimated 20 million square kilometers, making it the largest empire during its time.

The Qing Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China, ruled from the 17th to the early 20th centuries. At its peak, the Qing Dynasty controlled an extensive territory spanning over 14.7 million square kilometers, including present-day China, Mongolia, and parts of Central Asia.

From the 16th to the 20th centuries, France established a vast colonial empire across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. At its height in the late 19th century, the French Colonial Empire covered an area of approximately 13.5 million square kilometers.

The Russian Federation, the successor state to the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, remains one of the largest countries in the world today. With a territory of over 17 million square kilometers, it is the largest country by land area, spanning 11 time zones.

Canada, the second-largest country by land area, encompasses a vast territory stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Its expansive landscape includes forests, mountains, prairies, and the Arctic tundra.

China, one of the world's oldest and most populous civilizations, boasts a rich history and a vast territory. Its diverse landscape includes deserts, plains, mountains, and coastal regions.

The United States, a federal republic composed of 50 states, is the third-largest country by land area. Its territory extends across North America from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and includes Alaska and Hawaii.
